[Careers] Assurance Services Director

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the final technical review and approval of reports and underlying work papers and related communications of assurance engagements submitted for release by senior managers.
  • Responsible for final decision as to adequacy of work performed and compliance with professional standards and IAAA policies. 
  • May sign audit opinions and related client correspondence.
  • Directly supervises Assurance Services managers. 
  • Mentors their development as public accountants. 
  • Manages direct reports to result in high degree of client satisfaction.
  • Leads the firm's development of professional staff through staff training seminars, research and interpretation of new technical pronouncements, etc.
  • Keeps abreast of latest developments in professional standards for all areas of the firm's attest services and initiates required changes for the IAAA assurance practice.
  • Determines assurance services (independent professional services that improve the quality of information, or its context, for decision-makers) philosophies, standards, and approaches to be used and methodology for application. 
  • Determines an appropriate training regimen to result with firm-wide adoption of such philosophies. May include developing and/or directing development of audit programs, internal control questionnaires, and manuals to be used by professional staff.
  • Provides final approval to planning documentation and work programs prepared by the staff and, if necessary, revises the assurance services work programs via discussion with managers or in-charges.
  • Possesses or develops and maintains broad knowledge of agribusiness niche unique to the firm
  • Responds to the problem areas and questions raised by managers and in-charges and provides problem resolution.
  • Promotes new ideas and business solutions that result in extended services to existing clients and the recruitment of new clients.

 Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Minimum of seven years of directly-related work experience.
  • Effective collaborations skills with entire professional staff.
  • Excellent oral and written and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates technology skills to operate personal computer and function effectively using software products licensed by the firm.

Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of agribusiness and cooperatives.
  • Working knowledge of PPC audit methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of income tax accounting and reporting rules.
